​A warm and special painting with beautiful reflections. Dappled light from under my big California Oak tree, just outside my kitchen casts lovely purple shadows in the morning. I like to capture the play of light on special objects I collect on my thrift store outings!

This painting reflects what I see when I peek over my easel every day, which might give you a clue about where I paint.....in my lounge! Which, I must add, has the best light in the house and also makes me feel connected to my kids, animals and all that goes on while I'm happily painting away!

FRENCH GALVANIZED PITCHER

The quaintest little French shop in our Valley, TANCREDI & MORGEN, lent me one of their antique French galvanized pitchers as inspiration and this is what I did with it. Though it is grey and not so grand, I think it came out just fine what with the bright fruit and flowers to boot!

​This is a second in a series of paintings depicting a delft vase with roses, peonies and lemons. The late afternoon light shines on the French pitcher which makes for interesting shadows and lively highlights. It will look darling in any kind of French style atmosphere.

A French style depiction of pomegranates from my friend's garden whom also gave me the lovely platter for Christmas! I made this painting for her mom who took it back to South Africa with her.

My dear friend Jane gave me a bag of cherries before leaving for Arkansas, and boy did I have to move fast to take a picture of it in this bowl as cherries don't have a very long shelf life in our house!

My latest painting in a series of truly French inspired works. I mainly want to depict the touch of sunlight on fresh fruit which reminds of a lazy morning in the South of France! Hence the grain sack dish cloth! Beautiful, French grays, blues and soft pinks would go well in any sophisticated setting.

Our dear friends, Matt and Caitlin are getting married today at Carmel Mission. I made this painting especially for them as a wedding gift as they both have a passion for missions and also of course this will be a snapshot of the happiest day of their lives, captured on canvas! They will be living in Belgium for the first few years of their marriage, so I hope this will find a special place in their new home!
