I felt so inspired by the light coming in through my front door today, shining through the table cloth and reflecting on the floor, just had to capture it on canvas!
SITKAMER IN MIDDAGSON is my very own sitting room! It is in fact where I paint and what a lovely lazy warm setting, complete with Proteas from a dear friend Lynda!
Mathilda se rusbank is where I spent the last two and a half months visiting my sister in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Back in the US, I miss those lazy winter afternoon Sundays, sharing my life stories with her on that couch!
TAPIS ROUGE is such a lovely, warm setting that invites the outdoors in. I love the way the French desk is the center of the composition, though the light that streams in through the tall windows steal the show!
I love all French object d'art and this painting celebrates that! Fluffy pink roses are set off against the horizontal lines of French shutters. Grapes in the foreground lift the dappled light and shadows which makes for a very lovely piece of art.
Once again, my dear friend Penny gave my mom a massive bunch of fynbos flowers, and the beauty of this one Protea inspired me to paint! Of course, the guavas didn't last very long!!
In the late afternoon, while preparing to cook dinner, the sun always comes rushing through my kitchen window and brings a different picture everyday, here are a few roses from the garden and oranges I get straight from the farms in Salinas,CA.
Penny is one of my dearest, dearest friends and she gave me these poppies when I saw her a few days ago. They were still completely closed and we have had so much fun watching them pop open! I couldn't wait to capture these lovely beauties on canvas!
This painting is as warm, peaceful and lively at the same time, just like my sister Tania herself. It speaks of everything she is, welcoming, calming, interesting and most of all beautiful! This is her sitting room, drenched by the late winter sun, just like she lightens everybody's lives around her!
