The light just happened to stream through the window and caught the golden urn with topiary above my fireplace when luckily my eye caught it in time to paint it! Love the simplicity, warmth and overall sense of peacefulness of this painting!
This is the second painting for the same client who wanted the Dining Room scene in the previous post. I love how this one has turned out! I really had a lot of fun creating this one and tried my best to capture it as close to the original...
....without if being too realistic.
Let me know if you would like me to do a scene from you house! Simply go to my Etsy Store and put in a request!
This is the first of two paintings of a clients home. She placed an order on my Etsy store for a special commission. This painting will hang with the next one in her bedroom. I love the fact that she is using spaces in her home for her home!
I had just picked these lemons and was looking for a place to put it...and low and behold, there were the roses of the other day still in the purple vase, in the sun, on the sill! And since I had just unpacked a box kitchen stuff, I came across this beautiful purple glass bowl I had bought at the thrift some time ago! I love the purples and yellows, the warmth and coolness, the play of light but mostly the JUST PICKED LEMONS!
I have just arrived back from a trip to South Africa, where a dear friend commissioned me to do a painting of all the special things she had gotten from the 4 men in her life, her husband and 3 sons! This is a beautiful setting on her fabulous French style dining table complete with fresh lemons from her garden, which I must add, has a view of my beloved Table Mountain! You can go to my Etsy Shop where you could order your very own commission and so have an heirloom created of the very special things in your home, for your home!
I wrote a blog post on preserving lemons today, Meyer Lemons to be exact..and was so inspired by the beautiful light, the yellow against the old green terracotta pot that I painted this picture before the blog post was done! I'm happy with the result, what do you think?
It was a kind of rainy day, here in California today, and I was so fortunate to capture the fleeting moment when the sun did shine through my window and reflected through the my beloved purple vase from behind. Love the shadows of the roses which almost steals the show, I must add!!
I always say that if purple was a food I would eat it! Love purple, and so love this painting that is all about the soft, rambling roses, yet the purple vase is what sets it off!
Two dear friends came over for one of my home cooked meals the other night, and like a prince in shining armor, Rob arrived with a bunch of beautiful, long stemmed roses...just for me! And what with the late afternoon sun streaming through my sitting room, I just had to capture it for a lifetime!
I was drawn to this interior scene by the warm, strong light that passes through the French window and reflects on the floor, so inviting and begs one to sit and relax in the cushy recliner. A lovely study of a few minutes peace as the sun stretches its rays over a calm, quiet room.
This is a study of a few lemons from my garden against a lovely old delft vase I bought at a garage sale a while back. Nothing more charming than classic blue and yellow!
